MY STORY

STARS.png

Hello there, I'm a self taught embroidery artist based in Plymouth, UK.

I was born and raised in Torino, Italy, then moved to London in my early 20s and created my own little family here in England with my Polish husband.

Fun story: I started my embroidery journey in early motherhood, while pregnant with my daughter: my first born son was only 17 months old and we wanted to use his “old” blue pushchair for the little sister, so I decided to improvise some hand stitched flowers all over it! At that point, I was totally hooked; then Covid happened so embroidery was the perfect way to have some much needed personal and creative outlet during those times. Not long after, I started a little Etsy shop and grew my skills and business while also navigating my family neurodivergence. I wear many hats: I am the designer, the stitcher, the photographer, the marketing director, the admin manager, the packaging manager… Basically everything is done by me in my home studio. My other passions are true crime (I always have a true crime podcast on while I stitch or pack orders), reading especially fantasy or thrillers, and cooking Italian foods. I also have Alopecia areata, so sometimes you might seem me with hair, sometimes bald, depending on how my hair feels like!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you use Artificial Intelligence in your work in any capacity?

No. I am a strong believer that AI has no place in arts and creativity. All my designs are drawn by hand by me personally when inspiration strikes by what surrounds me. Moreover, I do not use any AI help to write down instructions or helping me in my business tasks. Everything is made by my brain and my hands.

I am totally new to embroidery, where should I start?

Welcome! I would start with a full kit, since they come with all the necessary high quality supplies and instructions. I have a couple of sampler kits, such as the “Rainbow” sampler or the “Here comes the sun” sampler, where the stitches are clearly separated and have their own individual section and colour, which makes it easier to practice the specific technique.

Do you ship to Europe?

Unfortunately at the moment I am unable to ship to either Northern Ireland or Europe due to many different product safety and packaging regulations, that involve a lot of extra paperwork and costs that are not affordable right now for me. Things might change in the future, but as of today, not yet.

Do you sell wholesale?

I am slowly dipping my toes in wholesale, so if you are a UK brick and mortar shop that would like to have my kits in their range of products, please email me at embearoidery@gmail.com and we can definitely talk about it.

Are your designs beginners friendly?

Most of my designs are beginners friendly, and it is always specified in the listing if it is not. Each kit comes with all the necessary detailed instructions, however a few of them might have a busy and more intricate design or use some intermediate techniques, that might make them challenging for a complete beginner.

Is the shipping cost included?

Uk shipping is included for orders above £20 (default method is standard second class delivery). An optional upgrade for a tracked faster option will be available at checkout. International shipping is not included and it is calculated at check out based on your order and location, varying between £3 and 20.

Do you sell PDF digital patterns?

I do have PDF digital patterns available only on my Etsy at the moment, due to extra paperwork involved regarding VAT that I need to look into more specifically if I was to sell them here. It is on my to-do list but as of today, you can shop my PDFs on Etsy (shop name: EmBeaRoidery).
